End of Civilization Giveaway!

Hello! It's another installment of my Wednesday photography series. Today's photograph is called "End of Civilization".

End of Civilization Large Framed Print
(Click the image to view it larger.)

End of Civilization depicts a red chair amongst a background of green kudzu - an invasive plant species that even covers the trees. If you've never seen kudzu before, this is what it looks like! It literally covers up everything in its path. To me, it suggested what might happen if civilization ends ... the kudzu will take over everything!

Close up of the leaves and chair:
(Click the image to view it larger.)

Kudzu looks like a small vine from a distance. You don't realize how deep it is or how large the leaves are until you get right up in it. The chair in this image is near the edge of a patch of kudzu, otherwise it would sink in completely! And the leaves in this photograph are as big as your hand. They can grow even larger - as big as a dinner plate! They are sooooo huge! I wanted to include the chair in this image to give a sense of scale to all that kudzu!

End of Civilization is available on a set of 8 postcards. They are printed on glossy paper and are 4" wide by 6" tall. You can use the postcards to send messages worldwide. You could even save one for yourself and frame it!

Fantastic photo Anne! Love all the shades of green with the pop of red from the chair!

Creative title for the photo too! It looks very dark and creepy in the back of the green jungle!

I love this oicture Anne. It has a real sense of foreboding about it. I would not want to get tangled up with that Kudzu plant! We have a horror of a plant here called Japanese Knotweed and once it is in your garden it is extremely hard to get rid of. Your description reminded me of that.

Love that photo Anne gorgoeus.

Thanks for popping by my blog and the info about the card from the game. I got it as part of a vintage embellishment kit and didn't have a clue where it was from.

I found you through Ronnie's blog. The first time I ever saw kudzo was when I lived in WV a couple years ago. That stuff grows like crazy!! Love this shot. Reminds me of some of my favorite places in WV.

Anne, this photograph is simply stunning. Red and green really are for more than Christmas. Anyone growing up in the South is well aware of this invasive plant... and yes, it also puts me in mind of that TV series, Life After People... it won't take long for Nature to reclaim everything!

This is really one of your best shots. Original.
Take care!

Hello Anne,

I like your "eye" for good composition ! The red chair really makes an impression with the green all around. Is this in your garden ?
"Kudzu"... could it be that this is a chinese or Japanese plant ? I think in bookbinding lessons we talked about Japanese paper made from Kudzu... If it takes over your garden, just rip it out and make handmade paper of it !

greetings
Inge

Wonderful photo Anne...I love the contrast of the green and red and the contrast of nature and the man made chair. I havent heard of Kudzu before. Thanks for the interesting information, it might be invasive, but it looks great in this photo.
Thanks for the chance to win!
