Photography Series & Pink Blossom Giveaway!

Hello there! Today I'd like to start a new series on my blog that I hope you'll enjoy. You already know about my color journals, handmade and handstamped cards, and other artistic projects. But so far, I haven't really shared my photographs with you.

So today I'm really excited to start a new series that will run on Wednesdays on my blog, where I can do exactly that. Every other Wednesday, I will share a different photograph with you, tell you a little bit about it, and show you some of the products on which it is offered. No one should feel any obligation to purchase anything from me. I simply want to share what I've created and hope that my creations eventually find the very best homes for them.

Don't worry! I will still keep posting about my handmade and handstamped cards, my color journals, and other art projects. I'll keep posting the details and sharing what steps I took. That's not going to change! I just thought it would be fun to share my photographs, too! :-)

In addition, I will be hosting a giveaway of a handmade card featuring that Wednesday's photo. The winner will be announced the following Wednesday. I am really looking forward to this series and to sharing my photography with you!

To begin, I've decided to share my photograph entitled "Pink Blossoms" with you. This first post in the photography series is a bit long, since I am explaining the concepts a bit. Thanks for your patience!

Pink Blossoms: Large Framed Print
(Click the image to view it larger.)

I had a great time capturing this image as a photograph. It was near the beginning of Spring and I was up early and outside exploring. When I saw this gorgeous flowering tree in the early morning light, which has a pinkish quality of its own, I knew I just had to photograph it.

I purposely set up the photograph to capture the lyrical movement of the branches. And to show some in crisp detail while allowing others to fade out in the background based on my depth-of-field choice. Whenever I see this picture, it reminds me of Springtime and fresh air.

I have prepared this photograph for optimal printing and partnered with CafePress to offer this photograph to you in a variety of formats, including prints and photographic gifts. I have ordered these products myself and know they are quality items and that the photograph prints well on them. And I've been very pleased with their customer service.

I partnered with CafePress because I simply cannot offer my photographs nor ship them at a better price using any other method. To create a large framed print on my own, including the matte, frame, and plexiglass would make the price of the print more than $350. The fact that I can offer you a print of this size and quality for less than $100 is a steal of a deal!

This particular photograph is available as a print in two sizes and shapes, to offer more versatility for your decorating needs. The prints are made using archival quality inks and acid-free paper to help them last. The stylish black metal frame is gallery quality.

This image is also available on a beautiful high-gloss black lacquer keepsake box. The bottom of the box is covered with felt to protect your furniture. And the interior is lined with velvet. The image is printed onto a ceramic tile that is inset into the lid of the box. The lid is spring-loaded and stays open without tipping the box over. The keepsake box would make a great gift!

And now for the giveaway!

If you like this photographic image, I'd love to hear from you! Simply leave a comment on this post and you will be entered in a drawing for a handmade greeting card, featuring a print of this photo. The card and an envelope will be mailed to you (blank/no message) in a clear bag, then in an outer envelope from me, so that you can use it how you choose. For example, you could use it as a greeting card or you can frame it and keep it for yourself. It's up to you!

The prize: a handmade card featuring a print of Pink Blossoms:

The details:
  • Comment on this post on or before Sunday, April 26th, at midnight EST, to be entered in the drawing for the handmade card featuring a print of Pink Blossoms. I'd love to hear what you like about this image or my photographic prints or gifts. Or what you think about this new series on my blog!

  • Comments cannot be anonymous. If I can't click through your name to your blog, please leave your name and an e-mail address such as "yourname[at]email[dot]com".

  • Please leave only one comment per person.

  • Commenters who do not follow these guidelines will be disqualified.

  • No purchase is necessary to win; however, commenters who also buy one of my prints or photographic gifts (it doesn't have to be this image) before the deadline will get TWO additional entries into the drawing for EACH item purchased. (Sets will count as one item.)

Hi there! We aren't sure what kind of ornamental flowering tree this is. It might be a crabapple or something similar.

It's a beautiful photograph Anne! I like the way you've used the DOF to blur the background while keeping the foreground in sharp focus. And flowers are one of my favorite photography subjects!
